MULLION HARBOUR, CORNWALL: A POEM...

Who, Why And Reasons For Mullion Harbour

Who built that tank-wall?
Why isn’t it labelled?
Presume it was never used…
Why is the oil-lamp not working?
Who was responsible for it?
Guess it’s been weather-abused…

Who used that stone-dwelling?
Why is it still on the quay?
Maybe for pilchards or nets…
Why are lobster pots still lying around?
Who do they belong to?
Possibly the owner forgets…

Who owns those boats?
Why are they just grounded there?
Perhaps they are used in the spring…
Why do people live down here?
Who do they think they are?
Probably a holiday-let thing…

Who maintains the harbour walls?
Why are they littered with debris?
Possibly no funds or volunteers…
Why am I drawn to a place like this?
Who searches the enclaves of my being?
For my spirit is reduced to tears…
