THAME RANGERS v ENFIELD BOROUGH: MATCH PREVIEW...

THAME RANGERS v ENFIELD BOROUGH:
MATCH PREVIEW…

Thame Rangers have already won the Spartan South Midlands League Division 2 and will presumably be awarded their trophy after the difficult match against Enfield Borough at Meadow View Park on Saturday May 13th.

Enfield Borough FC is a new club, formed in 2016 by Marvin Walker and Aaron Archer. Marvin manages the team at the present time, having previously been the Boss at Wadham Lodge, also at Brimsdown & for Enfield Town’s U21s.
MARVIN WALKER...

The Enfield Beast, featured on the club’s badge, is a fictitious creature sometimes used in heraldry, having the head of a fox, the chest of a greyhound, the body of a lion, the hindquarters and tail of a wolf, and forelegs like an eagle's talons…

He once played in defence for Birmingham City, as all beasts tend to do…

Enfield will arrive at Thame in 4th spot in the Division but must beat Rangers and hope that MK Gallacticos can overcome Aston Clinton at Aston Park, for with a better goal difference Borough will then snatch a 3rd place finish.

Fluctuating form over recent weeks has seen Enfield win five successive home games: 5-0 v Tring Corinthians, 3-0 v Loughton Manor, 5-1 v Pitstone & Ivinghoe, 3-0 v Old Bradwell United and 2-1 v Aston Clinton. However, a home defeat of 2-4 v MK Gallacticos and then a brace of losses on the road at Aston Clinton (1-0) and Loughton Manor (2-1) have maybe left a sour taste in Borough mouths…

Altogether in the league, Enfield have amassed 64 points with a goal difference of +49, after winning 19 of 33 matches, losing just 7.

Overall their away record has been decent, winning 50% of their matches, 10 from 20, losing 5, with a goals ratio of 39-22, which means an average of almost 2 goals per game scored and just over 1 per game conceded on the road.

Top appearance makers overall are as follows: Jamiah Plentie-Lawrence and Thomas Opoku with 38, Brian Tshibangu with 35 and Jamie Newby-Harris with 33.
PLENTIE-LAWRENCE: 38 APPEARANCES...
OPOKU: 38 APPEARANCES & 12 GOALS TOO...
TSHIBANGU: 35 APPEARANCES...

NEWBY-HARRIS: 33 APPEARANCES...

The top overall goalscorers are: Henderson Browne with 16, Solomon Nwabuokei with 13, Thomas Opoku with 12 and Alfie Hatch with 11…
BROWNE: 16 GOALS...

SOLOMON NWABUOKEI: 13 GOALS SO FAR...
HATCH: 11 GOALS...

Thame’s last three games saw three victories, 4-1 v Penn & Tylers Green, 5-2 v St Neots Town Reserves, both at home and then on Tuesday, I saw them nick a deserved late winner at Aston Clinton, admittedly with a much changed line-up. The only goal was snaffled by Kieron Schmidt from the bench but on a poor, hard pitch, at least Rangers attempted to play a passing game. Full coverage of that game may be found at themowdog.blogspot.co.uk
VIGOROUS THAME WORKOUT AFTER ARRIVING FROM WORK...

SCHMIDT, AFTER SCORING AT ASTON...

Sean Coles and skipper Paul Brown have made 51 appearances each overall this term, followed by vociferous defender Jeanmal Prosper with 46.
COLES: CLOSE WITH TWO HEADERS AT ASTON...

BROWN: FINE GAME AT ASTON...
PROSPER: LOUD AND EFFECTIVE AT ASTON...

Having won 27 of 33 league matches this season, losing only 4 times, with a goal difference of +88, Rangers amassed 83 points and although top goalscorer Shayne Almond (48 goals) is likely to be missing v Enfield, Sean Coles will start (33 goals) and third on the scoring list is Daniel Delderfield with 17.
ALMOND: MISSING...

Rangers’ overall record at home is 25 wins from 31 games, losing 5 but with a goals ratio of 104-33, meaning a total of just over 3 goals per game netted and only just over 1 goal per game conceded.
TOM KEEN KEEPS ASTON'S WORKMAN IDLE...

RICKY WILLIAMS, KNOCKED DOWN AT ASTON...

This encounter should be keenly contested, not only for the fact that Enfield will want to spoil the Thame party but also because goals by Henderson Browne and Percy Kiangebeni toppled Rangers 2-1 in the reverse fixture on September 9th last year. Lenny Sackey replied for Thame…

Full coverage, as ever, will be at themowdog.blogspot.co.uk on Sunday…
