GNP SPORTS MANAGER SHAMIR ALAM WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S VICTORY v BOLDMERE...

The GNP Sports FC manager, Shamir Alam, provides his personal thoughts on the 0-3 win over Division 3 rivals Boldmere:

"After last week fantastic 0-8 win versus Castle Vale, to make it 9 wins from 9, we knew Boldmere would be a much tougher challenge and if we were to make it 10 wins from 10, then we needed to be better without the ball than we were against them a few weeks ago.

We couldn't get going for the first 25 minutes and Boldmere did have plenty of the ball and huff & puff with a few set pieces and shots from distance. They never really threatened our goal or made our keeper work though, but that was due to the fact we weren't at the races in the early exchanges and allowed them time and space in our half.

We managed to get our noses in front with a direct free-kick which was followed by a second direct free-kick and being 2-0 up after 30 minutes. The Boldmere players were in shock. We certainly capitalised on this and didn't feel sorry for them which led to some good work centrally and with one pass, it got us in and behind for one of our players to finish inside the box, following a neat assist.

We managed to see the game out and whilst it wasn't pretty at times, this bunch of players know what's required to grind out results, put their bodies on the line and work harder then any team we have faced. For that I congratulate them on making it 10 wins from 10 played.

It's taken the players all of pre-season & 7 competitive games to get used to the 3-4-3 formation but we only formed in June and the fact that we have scored 25 goals with 3 clean sheets in the last 3 games shows it's starting to click up top and at the back!

With a 1/3 of the league campaign now over for us we will do what we always do and that's look to win the next game, then the game after that and the one after that.

M.O.M. for yesterday is awarded to Leigh Phillips but yesterday wasn't about what he did but how simple he made it look. He's an outstanding player & a humble guy!

Yours in football..."

Sham
