Just One, Being Followed…
A robin mithered and dithered in the foreground
And a magpie swooped and thieved at stage-back,
As the October light drained and dulled.
The inevitable chill crawled and lingered upon fingers, exposed
And the wait in silence began for hungry badgers to appear.
As the robin hovered and bothered in the middle ground
And the magpie hurried and flurried like in a frenzied attack,
One badger reared up from its rubble strewn sett, pulled
Itself free and began feeding, its occasional stare seemingly posed.
And the robin followed and shadowed its grey, meaty rear…

26th October 2023…
Only one badger emerged on a chilly late October evening but was scouted and followed by a persistent robin, whilst a magpie made several sorties at the back of the scene to feed on the strewn peanuts, well away from the mammal…
TO THE LEFT OF THE BASE OF THE LARGE TREE IS THE END OF BADGER'S TAIL & IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT OF IT A LURKING ROBIN CAN JUST BE MADE OUT!
