Wicked Lady?
Pearls and rouge decorate the skin...
Slight, slim in the extreme;
Her blue, silk gown’s lustre
Slips from childlike shoulder.
Bright, keen in expression:
Chestnut eyes gleam;
Lips, pert, of someone older,
Generate an impish impression…
Pearls and rouge violate her skin...
Contrite, clear in the frame;
Her tight, umber ringlets cluster,
Slip from sparse fringe.
Erudite, steadfast in determination:
Mahogany eyes blame;
Lips taut, with scarlet tinge,
Inculcate a skittish protestation...

Katherine Ferrers…
Born in 1634...
Her portrait hangs at Valence House Museum…
I was interested in her expression. Was this The Wicked Lady, the highwaywoman?
She has been lauded in Katherine Clements’ fine novel ‘The Silvered Heart’...
Worth a read, I reckon...
