Cormorant…
It simply perched there:
Unflinching, seemingly unconcerned,
Basking, as I approached,
Fascinated, inebriated
By this trusting creature, immature,
Yet beautifully demure;
I photographed its repose,
Its classic Cormorant’s pose,
Before, elated, yet sated,
I withdrew from its space and the intimacy
Then clambered across scattered boulders,
Leaving it to its desired privacy,
Where it remained: simply perched there…

Mousehole, near the rock pool, below the Old Coastguard Hotel, a young Cormorant was not ruffled by my close presence…
Brilliant.
