RAZOR SHELLS & WISPY MISTS: A POEM ABOUT TITCHWELL BEACH, NORFOLK...

Razor Shells & Wispy Mists

The mollusc mosaic
Glimmered in weak coastal light
On Titchwell’s expansive sands;
Massive piles of razor shells
Haphazardly aligned by careless tides
Crunched underfoot, prosaic…

Long mists fingered,
Simmered through damp dunes
Onto flat, grim marshes;
Veils of creeping wraiths
Haphazardly intrusive in drizzled rain
Hunched above and lingered…

Pete Ray
Titchwell, June 2016

Shocking piles of empty razor shells and a seeping mist made Titchwell seem almost unreal…
