PERSHORE TOWN v LEICESTER ROAD: MATCH PREVIEW...

Pershore Town v Leicester Road: Saturday, 25th March 2017…

Match Preview…

This game features Leicester Road, a team chasing the division leaders Bromsgrove Sporting, who are still unbeaten in the league and fresh from a 0-3 win at Racing Club Warwick on Tuesday. Leicester will visit Pershore Town, battling against an undesirable relegation but who convincingly won 0-4 at doomed Southam United on Tuesday evening. The Saints of Southam have only 4 points for the season, have won no matches and have slumped to suffer a goal difference of -137.
PERSHORE PREPARE @ SOUTHAM...

Since losing at home to Lichfield by 1-4, Pershore have beaten Atherstone Town 2-0 at home but have drawn 4 times: 0-0 at Heath Hayes, 3-3 at Racing Club Warwick, 2-2 at home to fellow strugglers Chelmsley Town and 0-0 at home to Uttoxeter Town. The only other defeat in the last 8 games has been to Hinckley at home, 1-2.

Pershore have won 8 from 32 matches this season, drawing 6 and losing 18, scoring 41 goals and having a goal-difference of -31 in amassing 30 points.
PERSHORE GOALKEEPER SHAUN EDWARDS: NOT TOO BUSY AT SOUTHAM...

5 of Leicester Road’s last 7 league matches have been away from home but they have won 4 of those: 3-1 at Nuneaton Griff and also at Littleton, 1-0 at Heather St John’s and 3-0 at Coventry Copsewood but they did lose 1-0 at Lichfield recently. The 2 home games in those last 7 outings ended with a 2-1 win over Hinckley and a 1-1 tie v Heath Hayes.

Leicester Road have won 21 of 30 games this term, drawing 4 and losing just 5 times, whilst scoring 81 goals, conceding only 26 and amassing an impressive 66 points, more than twice Pershore’s total.
LEICESTER GOALKEEPER WILL HIGHLAND: IMPRESSIVE STATISTICAL SEASON...

Pershore’s top goalscorer so far this season is Jamie Clarke, a guy I saw play alongside Huddersfield Town’s Joe Lolley for Littleton a few seasons ago. He has 16 this term, followed by Will Gayton on 7, the departed Sean Cooke on 6 and Reece Jacobs, who netted a superb goal at Southam on Tuesday, who has 4.
JAMIE CLARKE: NO GOAL @ SOUTHAM...

Leicester Road’s leading marksman is Matt Stenson with 28 goals, followed by Jake Holt with 13, Daryll Thomas with 12, then both Tom McGlinchey and Greg Downes with 8.
MATT STENSON: 28 GOALS...

JAKE HOLT: 13 GOALS FOR HIM THIS TERM...

Leicester Road are only 5 points adrift of Bromsgrove at present but Sporting have the luxury of 2 games in hand over their chasers.

Pershore hauled themselves out of the relegation positions on Tuesday evening but points are now imperative in their quest to avoid a possible embarrassing drop to Division 2.

Below the Persians are Pelsall Villa, who have dropped to the bottom-but-one place with 28 points from 31 games, similar totals to 3rd from bottom Chelmsley Town’s, but above Pershore lie Studley with 31 points from 31 games, Stafford Town with 32 points from 32 matches and Heath Hayes with 33 points from 30 games. Both Heath Hayes and Stafford have healthy goal differences of -6, however.

This weekend Heath Hayes entertain Chelmsley, Pelsall travel to Littleton and Studley have a tricky home match to deal with against 3rd place Hinckley…
