ALCESTER TOWN'S DANNY JANES REACTS TO THE 6-0 WIN v ENVILLE ATHLETIC ON SATURDAY...

"Saturday was an historic day for Alcester Town Football Club. The promotion has been an ambition of the club for many years but to finally achieve that, as well as winning the league is sensational.

Full credit must go the the management team of Matt Seeley, Richard Briggs and Steve Seeley. Taking over a team a couple of months into a season is always difficult but they put together a squad with the ability to compete and they guided the team in the right direction. The run the team have been on in the league has been awesome, for to go undefeated for so long at any level of football is outstanding.
SATURDAY'S LINE-UP...

I have obviously been involved with his club for four years now, managing the Reserves, managing the First Team and captaining the side along with Luke Dugmore this season. I am absolutely delighted for the Chairman Dave Taylor, as well as the Club Directors: Gary Williams, Steve McAdam, Garry Williams, Simon McAdam and Ian Chester. Their passion and commitment to the club is inspirational and the work they put in behind the scenes to give the club such a formidable infrastructure is fantastic.

The game itself on Saturday was pretty straightforward. I thought Enville would have a bit more about them as they could have put a downer on the final day of our season and they also have a Cup Final coming up so I would have thought the players would have been fighting for their places. They rotated players and positions on the day which I was very surprised at, but that is down to them. Surely a team wants to try and win every game, not get turned over? The second-half was always going to be poor in terms of quality for the game was won and it was difficult to get things going.
THE LEAGUE 3 TROPHY...

From a player's perspective, the mentality the side has shown to keep chasing the pack at the top of the league has underpinned our success. We approached each game knowing that we must do as much as we could to keep applying the pressure and despite not being at our best in certain games, we still managed to grind out results, which is the sign of a good team.
LUKE DUGMORE ACCEPTS THE CUP...

The morale in the squad has also been top drawer; we have leaders in the dressing room such as Luke Dugmore, he keeps players grounded and leads by example on the pitch. The management team constantly ensured that we never got ahead of ourselves and this created an environment that consisted of discipline and focus. To win a league with this group of players has been a pleasure, they really are a great set of lads who are willing to listen to a few home truths when they need to be told.
THE CHAMPIONS...

The management team and the players are looking forward to the presentation night, a chance to review and celebrate what has been a great season..."
