THE WATER CARRIER... (MY NEW POEM ABOUT TEMPLE BALSALL...)

 The Water Carrier…

Morning. Drizzle falling upon the deserted lane.

Setts like black holes contrasted glaringly

With dank foliage, luscious and green

And the startling hue of bluebells scattered

About. Amid emerald scrub their blue stain

Gleamed, their plight exposed glaringly,

Just spring flowers unmistakeable and serene

Within a copse where nature and wildlife mattered…

The water I carried replenished two bowls lying around,

Which leaves and dirt had infiltrated and discoloured.

Though nothing moved upon the undulating, sodden ground,

Badger life lurked below, silent and undiscovered…

Temple Balsall.

Wet, drizzly…

Alluring green, bluebells, silent, eerie and hinting of life underground…
