RIDGEWALKER... (My new poem about walking near Boulby Mine near Staithes, North Yorkshire...)

Ridgewalker…

Windswept light showers cascaded, randomly

Skirting the surrounding hills and hovering

Above the distant sea. And the evening sunlight

Peered through smothering, bustling clouds, some charcoal

Grey, others pallid peach below those of varying blues.

Trees, buffeted by gusts, tousled haphazardly,

Leaning and straining, twisting and lowering

Towards yonder sea, as gulls across the valley took flight.

Through lush green grazing fields, pairs of pheasants stole

And over the ridge a late evening rainbow revealed its hues…

15th April 2024…

Staithes, North Yorkshire…

Windy, threatening but colourful clouds, occasional showers, pairs of pheasants and finally a weak rainbow…

On a ridge near Boulby Mine…
