SPECTRAL RISING... (My new poem about another old image of Mousehole, Cornwall...)

 Spectral Rising…

Backdrop windows, like eyes wide in fear

Stare from the grey, glum village across the quay,

As a storm wave spirals above slick, granite rocks,

A spectre rising from the depths of a wild ocean,

Snarling at boats moored and within the harbour nestling.

Spewing its hissing brine, the breaker’s sheer

And sudden surge bellows spite from the raging sea.

It lashes and pounds the harbour wall, then mocks,

Roaring its frustration, twisting in seething motion,

Clawing violently and for restricted access wrestling…

A photo of typical stormy seas in Mousehole from many years ago.

Crashing waves have always been spectacular when I have visited Mousehole in windy, wintry weather but this image seems to capture a huge wave like a spook rising from the depths of hell…
