HAPPY BIRTHDAY poem for COVENTRY UNITED manager EDWIN GREAVES...

St Edwin’s Day…

Riddled with patience, with an aura of stealth,
Forged from instructing learner drivers,
The manager peers through a Professor’s specs
At both fully-committed players and skivers…

Has a quiet reflection, a respectful demeanour,
So the vacant Villa job was a realistic destination:
But a banner, petitions and fans’ hero worship,
Saw him readily withdraw his application…

He does his homework, writes on paper,
Turns up at random games unexpected;
He shakes hands then huddles inside his club coat
And hides to remain undetected…

A really nice guy, he even reads my reports,
Yet he deserves all that he achieves:
So let’s hope Coventry United are promoted,
Under the legend that is Edwin Greaves…
