Holwell Sports Carriage
It was like an open-sided railway carriage,
Angled, derailed,
Vandalised
And bereft of interior:
Desecrated.
No seats, no tables,
No windows, no communication cables;
Listing, attesting
To better days
Of British Railways…
Yet merely a viewing shelter,
A shed, a shack,
A spectators’ platform, if somewhat inferior…

April, 2010
Holwell Sports’ covered terrace reminded me of a ramshackle carriage…
Ignorant Wag
Wilting notebook,
Too tall,
Winter scarf,
Booming banter:
Bouncing banalities
Off disciples of ignorance…
Goading the goalie,
Too cruel;
Ranter laughed:
Brimming bluster,
Bellowing blisters
At custodian of innocence…

Tall, veteran fan, attempting to amuse some listening individuals. He succeeded. He struck me as an ignorant clown.
The wasted wag.
