RUSHALL OLYMPIC v STALYBRIDGE CELTIC: MATCH PREVIEW...

RUSHALL OLYMPIC v STALYBRIDGE CELTIC:
SHORT MATCH PREVIEW

It will be good to return to Rushall Olympic on Saturday for an Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division clash with Steve Burr's Staybridge Celtic.

Relegated Celtic began their season with a 1-0 home win against the Dabbers of Nantwich Town last Saturday, courtesy of an Alex Honeyball header just prior to the interval. They then travelled to Whitby on Tuesday night but despite equalising a Weledji goal with Aaron Burns' strike during the opening half, they trailed 2-1 at the interval, Whitby's second goal being netted by Carson. The scoreline remained the same until Honeyball scored an own goal and Carson completed his brace during the final five minutes and Celtic's journey back to Stalybridge must have been rather depressing...

Rushall's start to the campaign has been really disappointing however, losing 2-0 at Warrington last weekend, the goals being scored by Hughes and Mwasile, then going down 0-2 at home to present league leaders Grantham Town, whose two goals were nabbed by Shaw. Consequently the Pics lie at the foot of the league table on goal difference, although Buxton, Shaw Lane and Coalville have also failed to register a point.

Staybridge currently lie 15th in the league table and so both teams have much to prove in the clash at Dales Lane...

I look forward to my second visit to Dales Lane, for my only match there was in October 2008, a 2-0 victory over Leek Town, during which the Pics netted first and last minute goals from Preston and Lamey.

I wrote some words about my visit which appear below and the images taken look so dark...

Coverage of this week's game will be at themowdog.blogspot.co.uk

Dales Lane

Dark, forbidding hutches
Cowered from the insistent,
Persistent
Floods of light;
Steely, disturbing webs
Shivered in the swirling,
Twirling
Gusts of night…

White, squatting dugouts
Peered from the dreary,
Weary
Encumbrance of night;
Pallid, stooping moon
Glimmered in the cherished,
Perished
Embers of light…
