Nestling In The Rewilding…
It lay in long grasses, flattened plants forming an acceptable
Warm resting place in pale morning sunlight
In the garden wilderness next door.
Forelegs, daubed brown like cricket pads albeit undetachable
Nestled amongst the weeds, as it basked, almost contrite
Amongst the foliage raw.
It yawned, its gaping mouth lined with white teeth, the mandible
Stretched wide and its long tongue curled pink, as keen eyes stared bright,
Its dark brown ears to the fore…
It gnawed upon a chunky stem like a chew stick, held in its paws
Almost playfully. Alert, it gazed at finches feeding
With nuthatches and tits.
Fidgety, the cub scratched its belly then beneath its jaws,
Its face resembling that of a large bat with an expression of pleading,
Yet surviving on its wits.
Perhaps taunting the resident spectral, evil white cat indoors,
The cub lounged and stretched, every minute sound heeding
And seemed oblivious to life’s discomfits…

4th June 2024…
I was lucky enough to capture more neat images and video clips of one of three fox cubs, which had emerged from its lair during the morning of 3rd June 2024.
The house next door is for sale and therefore the garden has recently re-wilded somewhat and the cub looked comfortable, despite the likely watching eyes of a ghostly white cat which resides at the house still…
PLEASE GO TO MY FACEBOOK PAGE (Peter Ray) TO SEE THE MOVIE OF THE CUB, INCLUDING ALL THE IMAGES + VIDEO CLIPS...
