GOLD IN GREY... (My new poem about a Björn Bernström painting...)

 Gold In Grey…

(From Björn Bernström’s painting…)

Like a sliver of gold through sullen grey rock,

A strip of sunlight gleams upon humanity

As a charcoal storm blackens the peach sky,

Flecked blue, revealing occasional clouds of white.

And a sinister backdrop of mountain slopes

Adds to the turmoil reflected in a lake of myriad hues…

Huddled lakeside, incongruous dwellings flicker and mock

The tumult with the resilience of a close-knit community,

As the harsh weather runs amok and awry,

Rising like evil and flexing its dank might.

And the mountain slopes bristle as the squall gropes

Like dire smudges, destined again its dignity to lose…

It’s what I felt whilst looking at the painting.

Really like it…
