BRINKLOW FC MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAIN ANOTHER PUZZLING DEFEAT, THIS TIME 1-2 TO COPSEWOOD...

EDWIN, with PATRICK SUFFO...

"This game was one of those when you go home wondering how you lost it.

In the 1st half we had 2 or 3 really good opportunities to score from Blake Kassar (shot deflected wide) then Craig Burrin (shot straight at the goalkeeper) and the best of the lot, Danny Lucas (shooting wide from inside the box) but in truth we never really tested the Copsewood goalkeeper.

Copsewood never really troubled us and it was 0-0 at half-time.

At the start of the 2nd half Blake had his best chance to score but his shot just went wide.
Copsewood responded in the 64th minute and were unlucky not to take the lead when a free header from a corner hit a post and bounced clear. Copsewood did score in the 67th minute when PJ escaped his marker and scored from another free header.

On 71 minutes Nathan Stoute was replaced by Benny Adeeko and on 78 minutes Ben Morley was replaced by Kris Bedder. On 80 minutes we scored when Kris Bedder's cross was finished in style by Connor Tallett to make it 1-1.

On 85 minutes we were caught at the back again when a Copsewood forward was through one on one and scored past Adrian Pascal: 1-2. In the 89th minute Copsewood were awarded a penalty when Craig Burrin was adjudged to have brought a forward down but the penalty was missed.

In summing up this game:
We could and should have got something out of this game but we keep finding ways to lose games at the moment. Copsewood scored their goals at important times for them but I look at it that we should be defending better as a team unit.

So it's 2 wins from our opening 7 games, which tells you where I am at the moment. The players put in a shift for me today and they keep finding a way to get back into games when going a goal down. For me, I have to be looking more at the mental state of some of my players now.

Losing games is never easy to handle but maybe some of my younger players need a little rest and a bit of protection from me now. We have been playing 2 games a week since the start of the season and some of the players have heavy legs. I have asked a lot of them in a short space of time and they have tried their best to please me.

Time to rethink, regroup, stick together and of course work harder..."
