"Whitnash started the game on the front foot and didn't take long before taking a 0-1 lead after 6 minutes. A good save from Jack Hartopp, a shot that hit the crossbar and was scrambled clear and a clearance off the line from Benny Adeeko kept the score down to 0-1 at half-time.
We, on the other hand never forced a save from the Whitnash goalkeeper and struggled to hold onto the ball in the final third of the pitch.
The 2nd half was a different story as we finally showed some attacking intent and equalised in the 49th minute when a Danny Lucas free-kick was headed in by Viqas Yusaf for his 1st goal for Brinklow: 1-1.
The goal gave the lads a massive lift and we started to move the ball around much better and with purpose. The key moment of the game for me was a late tackle which forced Nicholas Whittam off the pitch.
Whitnash scored after 55 minutes on the break with us down to 10 men as Nic was not allowed back on the pitch after having treatment: 1-2.
Whitnash added further goals on
61 minutes 1-3,
64 minutes 1-4,
67 minutes 1-5,
90 minutes 1-6.
In summing up this game:
Conceding 4 goals in 12 minutes killed us after Nic's injury and reshaping the team.
We found ourselves more open and were punished by a strong Whitnash side. We had every chance of getting something out of this game for 60 minutes.
Today I cannot fault the effort put into this game by my players. They stuck together from the first whistle to the last and gave me everything they had.
Whitnash deserved their win but knew today they had been in a game. The scoreline is a little bit harsh on us but Whitnash took their chances when they arose.
It is now important for me, the coaching staff and the players to focus on the positives from today's game. The players showed me today that they do care and that losing games of football hurts them as much as it hurts me.
As a club Brinklow will get stronger as we all go forward together, the hard work being put in behind the scenes will pay off in the end and I AM CERTAIN OF THAT.
It has been a difficult 7 days for me and the club, however I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I will now move on and plan for our next game..."
