AFC BINLEY MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 1-4 WIN @ BOURTON & FRANKTON...

"Before I start my match report I would like to thank everyone connected with Bourton & Frankton for getting this game on, whereas every other game in our division was called off.

Bourton & Frankton got the game underway on what was a very bitterly cold day and they put us under some early pressure.

In the 2nd minute a long ball forward behind our defence got held up in the wind, we failed to deal with the danger and a mix-up made things worse and Bourton took an early lead: 1-0.

Playing with the wind our final pass always seemed overhit as we struggled to adapt to the conditions.
In the 10th minute though a Danny Vincent free-kick finally brought a save out of the Bourton & Frankton goalkeeper at the expense of a corner.

We started to take control of the game and began to put Bourton on the back foot. In the 14th minute a Travis Smallwood corner was headed in by Fabian Spence to draw us level: 1-1.

We soon increased our lead in the 21st minute when Aaron Laming broke up a Bourton attack and then passed the ball to Fabian Spence, who then found Tyler Morgan. He drove into the 18 yard box and chipped the goalkeeper for a excellent finish and a team goal: 1-2.

In the 34th Travis Smallwood went on a mazy run before finding Blake Kassar in the penalty-box, who scored from an acute angle: 1-3."

Half-time Bourton & Frankton 1-3 AFC Binley...

"We started the 2nd half and increased our lead further when Andrew Godfrey, Justin Lang and Blake Kassar all linked up well before creating an opportunity for Fabian Spence to score his 2nd goal of the game with another smart close-range finish:

1-4.

On 67 minutes Justin Lang was replaced by Kyle Metcalfe but in the 74th minute Bourton had a free-kick which Ryan Oldham pulled off a terrific save from to concede a corner which came to nothing.

In the 76th minute Fabian Spence was replaced by Chris Corkery. The Bourton goalkeeper pulled off another couple of good saves but there were no more goals in this game."

Full-time: Bourton & Frankton 1-4 AFC Binley...

"In summing up this game:

After last week's defeat it was important that we got back to winning ways as soon as possible. We got off to the worst possible start but again the lads showed their character and turned things round.

It wasn't the best day to be playing football but hats off to Bourton & Frankton for getting this game on.
At times in this match we were sloppy with our passing and gave the ball away needlessly but there were times when we played some really nice football and we scored some good goals.

Today's game wasn't pretty but at this stage of the season it was very important that we got the 3 points. Bourton worked hard all game and the Bourton number 8 was a constant threat.

Next up for us is a home game against Bourton & Frankton, so we know what to expect and hopefully we can improve on this performance as we get closer to the finish line."
