The Little Old Lady…
At the top of the beach, the old potter listed and leaned,
Or rather lurched shyly upon Worthing’s seashore of stones.
It contrasted considerably with nearby smarter boats,
Repainted, colourful and ready for a Channel excursion.
Its registration marks of SM 115 had been burned, cleaned
Or scraped from its hull and stern, all three once clones
Of each other, whilst scarred and marked thick red coats
Of paint were visible, neglect would be its description.
Yet its given name stood out clearly at the stern upon a sign:
‘The Little Old Lady’ it read, ‘Port Of Shoreham’ and proud,
Despite its dereliction and appearance benign.
And it fascinated, as restoration it awaited, under a cloud…

Liked this shell of a potter, perhaps originally registered in 1946.
I wondered whether it would ever be restored to seaworthiness…
I hoped so.
Great name…
Maybe add, ‘…Of Pasadena…’
