The Sun Sets On A Gloomy Copse…
Foliage, silhouetted ink black by evening shade
Like props upon a stage setting, formed
A contrast to the spotlit September sky, spattered
By space blue blotches upon steel blue cloud.
And they swarmed exhausted above the waning sun’s bleed.
Foliage, dank and lush green in the evening glade
Barely shifted in the copse setting, warmed
Yet dulled by humidity from its canopy, scattered
In mottled patches and weakened with heads bowed.
And six badgers slunk warily from hidden setts to feed…
