NIGHT FOX FEASTING... (My new poem about a fox in the garden, plus images...)

 Night Fox Feasting…

The night camera was strapped to Bill

Of Flowerpot Men fame and upon a box mounted,

The compact lens attached to his legs, resting

Upon his weather-worn painted feet.

The timer had been set for the dark autumn nights

And would be triggered by the body heat

Of a garden intruder, a hippopotamus maybe,

Or more realistically, a rat, a fox, or a badger…

The feast had been scattered about at will

Upon a sodden lawn and inside a ground feeder shunted

Across the garden and amongst fallen leaves nestling,

Its contents varied but replete.

Coleslaw, potato and beetroot salads, crisps and bites

Of crusty French bread with cheeses comprised the treat,

Upon which a fox feasted, even the Saint Agur and the Brie.

And the intruder fed voraciously, like a wary cadger…

8th November 2023…

The fox appeared three times during the night, around 23.30  hours, then 01.30 & 03.30 hours, returning each time to snap up the majority food, before crows and magpies hustled squirrels for the remnants early in the morning light…
