STEAMING IN... (My poem about the tide at St Ives, Cornwall...)

 Steaming In…

(St Ives, Cornwall, January 2013...)

Just as if they had appeared

From inside a dark invisible tunnel,

Waves bustled into view,

Pushing on, forging a route to damp

And compacted sand.

And just like it was steamed

Up, in the wake of its funnel,

Vapour escaped from view,

Shifting back, forming a trail of spray

From perverted land...

Pete Ray

Waves forming at St Ives, Cornwall, suddenly being hampered by a strong wind from the land, lifting spray behind them like steam from engines, which were hustling towards the shore...
