SHERINGHAM BEACH, A CAMERA'S IMPRESSION... (My new poem about Sheringham beach, Norfolk, during a 2016 visit...)

 Sheringham Beach, A Camera’s Impression…

A sodden wooden groyne, partly submerged beneath

A sloped, stony, protective and stark beach,

Lingers upon the shelved shoreline of an insipid, insistent

North Sea, which fades unnaturally into a distant mist,

Surreal, yet mysterious.

A taut, slanted cliff-face, discoloured by the grief

Of a weak sun, flinches from the irreverent reach

Of embroiling tides and lashing, wild and persistent

Storms, almost jaundiced in its pallor, its gist

Unreal, yet imperious…

4th July 2025…

The above image was taken in June 2016, during one of my two visits to Sheringham, Norfolk…

I came across it yesterday and thought that it reminded me of an artist’s impression…
