Old Longships Lighthouse…
(Inspired by Sue Nichol’s painting…)
It’s in the fame, I guess, a towering nautical reference.
The rock, a lighthouse base, a solidity to endure
Storms, gales, high seas and crude, weathering perseverance.
The twirling, crashing, oppressing, combative grievance
And turbulence hurls its impressive, rasping, perplexing furore
To spit at the stone and engulf its unwavering permanence…
It’s in my name I guess, an accepted biblical reference.
The rock, a steadying base, a solidity to bear and endure
Hardships, misjudgements, transgressions and pessimism.
The swirling, thrashing, depressing, disruptive encumbrance
Of existence hurls its offensive, grasping, vexing lure
To rip at my core and probe at my wavering optimism…
