Something Lost…
(Inspired by a Sue Nichol painting, ‘Day31, #boatober 2025’…)
It was a feeling that something had been lost.
Even the gulls seemed innocent in their hungry pursuit
Of the fishing boat above a pastel blue ocean
In bright daylight, scavenging but seemingly not in dispute.
It was a feeling that a way of life has been lost.
Yet such seascapes are fundamentally at the root
Of my attraction to the sea, a craving, a notion.
The painting is cleverly composed, the nostalgia astute…
