COVENTRY UNITED GOALKEEPER RICHARD MORRIS REVIEWS HIS TEAM'S SEASON...
"All the lads were buzzin' for Saturday's game at Studley, for with the Littleton game postponed it seemed like we were never gonna get that point to win the league. We knew it would be a tough game as Studley have picked up some decent results of late and from what I saw of them on Saturday they will do well next season.
It was a nervous 1st half from us and we didn't get going but with O'Grady's quickly taken free-kick putting us in the lead, that seemed to settle us down. 2nd half was a completely different game, the Gaffer changed the formation and it worked so well. We played some of our best passing football and took total control of the game, scoring 2 more well worked goals. So that was it, we ended 3-0 winners and got the points to confirm us as Champions.
Looking back at the season I feel we have been the best overall team. We started so strongly and went on a very good run, then had our blip which resulted in a change of management but you can't take away what Edwin did up to the point of him being relieved of his role.
When Terry came in, he had a huge job to do with Bromsgrove and Nuneaton pushing us all the way, we knew we were scraping through games and we had so many games in April, honestly a few of us were saying it was a massive task to win the league.
But the squad dug in together and Terry and his staff got us going, we found our form, stopped conceding goals and started dominating teams again. You only have to look at the last month's fixtures to see how well we have done with the back 5 defending the best I have seen since I joined and the lads up top banging them in again.
It's been a brilliant season for us getting promoted at the 1st attempt and all the players and coaching staff deserve a lot of credit, especially with all the games in the last month but so do the owners and fans who were there week in, week out singing and pushing us along.
So we now have one game left to finish the season and hopefully we'll get the 3 points to finish off the perfect season for everyone involved at Coventry Utd and then start looking forward to the Premier next season and testing ourselves again.
Also a thanks to Mowdog for his light-hearted reports and videos of most of our games; they have been a pleasure to watch..."
