DUBROVNIK STREET ENTERTAINER...

Street Entertainer

The street entertainer, fidgety,
Slouched on a box,
Robed in shimmering gold,
Headgear to match.
A podgy face paint-caked,
But for him, on his patch,
In his attempts to cadge a kuna or a dime,
There was no rigidity,
Or sudden jerky moves to catch
One unawares. For this fool
Suffered from a facial twitch
And as a mime-artist, in truth,
He was a total waste of time…

He arrives...

He dresses...

He, er, stands...

...and the eyebrows prepare to flutter...

This guy was remarkable.
I thought he was making eyes at women.
He wasn’t.
He simply had twitchy eyebrows, was unable to stand perfectly still, blew kisses willy nilly, nor was he able to move jerkily in an attempt to entertain.
I bowed deeply to him, blew him a kiss and he simply grimaced.

It’s what I do…
