Tiny cottage windows shrink
From spring sun’s raw gleam,
Chilled stone walls blink
Beneath a lighthouse beam;
Gulls hovering and bothering
Alight upon roof tiles, weathering
And lifebelts like fixtures remain tethered 
On thick walls with dull whitewash smothered;
Crumpets toast on forks before a flaming fire,
Warming homes exposed to an April wind’s ire…
