THE GNP SPORTS MANAGER SHAMIR ALAM WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S RECENT MATCH @ BOLDMERE...

The GNP Sports FC manager, Shamir Alam, provides his personal thoughts on the 3-5 penalty win over Division 3 rivals Boldmere in the challenge vase Q/F:

"After last week fantastic fight back to make it 7/7 in the league, we had another tough fixture vs Boldmere this time in the Challenge Vase Quarter Final, knowing that the winners would reach the first Semi-Final of this year's campaign.

The concern leading into the game was our recent cup results but that seemed to be behind the players as we raced into a 2-1 lead at the break, this after a very positive start for the first 15/20 minutes by Boldmere.

Our first experience of Boldmere was certainly an impressive one, on and off the pitch with fantastic facilities and coaching set-up with a team on the field that will certainly be pushing towards the top of the league come April/May.

Boldmere pulled a goal back in the second-half to make it level at 2-2 but I was impressed as we continued to ask questions and smash on the door. However, following an interesting disallowed goal decision, the game went to penalties.

This is the second time in the competition we had to go to penalties and there was certainly no risk of us being knocked out; the lads are made of something else and the mental toughness they have shown time and time again was evident in 5 perfect penalties, with our goalkeeper also stepping up to the mark again!

Whilst it's great for the club and nice being in a semi-final we can park that now until the date is confirmed and focus on a big local game vs Leamington Hibs. We certainly won't be taking Leamington lightly, especially after their three recent results, showing some improvement.

We will approach the game just as we have done for the previous 7 in the league, respectful of the opposition but seeing them as just another team standing in our way of 3 points... Yours in football..."
