SANDSEND: HUDDLED, QUEUEING...

 Huddled, Queueing…

Huddled, addled, the old folks

Stood in line, forming

An orderly queue as we do here,

For a bus maybe, or for rations

During a war, or for a vaccination…

Listing, supporting, the war casualties

Leaned in line, conforming,

Gassed, or blinded, disabled by fear.

A stricken file by enemy actions,

Awaiting solace and evacuation…

Anonymous, ponderous, the unfortunate

Stumbled in line, disarming

Their sadness, shedding a tear

For the loss of love or passion,

Searching for some kind of salvation…

Looking at the remaining groyne posts on Sandsend beach, which looked like sad queues of people to me.

Perhaps the elderly in line for WW2 rations, or for present day Covid 19 vaccines.

Maybe WW1 casualties waiting to be treated..

Or unfortunate people for whatever reasons, needing to queue just in hope…
