Onward Star, Neglected…
Its innards were scattered across a tired deck,
The debris, the rotten wood, the detritus
And the Onward Star lurked in apparent detention.
Leaning and lurching at its moorings.
Its hull languished in the mire
As if it craved attention
In its abandonment,
Hurting for rejuvenation…
A drinks bottle
And a pair of gloves
Lay forlorn,
Unwanted, anxious,
Like the vessel itself,
Vexed at its rejection…

The boat is described as a trawler/potter, SH 165, a Scarborough registration.
From 1966-2018 is seemed to be fishing out of Fraserburgh and it appears that it was moored in Grimsby in April of this year…
I will no doubt find out why the rather sad boat has been lying in Padstow harbour…
