'WOODLAND': WORDS ABOUT A PAINTING BY CHARMAINE CHAUDRY...

 Woodland…

(from Charmaine Choudry’s painting…)

Sparse, bluish uprights of now healthy,

Supple, minimal forestry

Reaches at sunrise air.

Slim, high limbs

Farm stripes with stretches

Of amber, as daylight strives

To infiltrate from a morning sky…

Charred, blackened silhouettes of once healthy,

Lithe, vertical forestry

Claws at acrid air.

Harsh horror limbs,

Mere shadows of branches,

Pose like devilish knives

Against a putrid war-ravaged sky…

What might have happened to the artist’s splendid forest during

World War 1…
