ARDLEY UNITED v RISBOROUGH RANGERS: THE MOWDOG'S MATCH PREVIEW...

 ARDLEY UNITED v RISBOROUGH RANGERS:

THE MOWDOG’S MATCH PREVIEW…

So, a third visit of the season for me to the Nolan Oils Ground, after watching Ardley combust and lose in the FA Vase to Tring Athletic on penalties and then play out an awful 0-0 draw against Crawley Green.

JACOB BLACKSTOCK SCORES AGAINST TRING IN THE FA VASE...

I have visited Risborough Rangers once, in July 2017 to see a 0-1 loss to Aylesbury United but this season Rangers have been in magnificent form, remaining unbeaten in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

2017 & MY ONLY VISIT TO RISBOROUGH...

Their record is excellent, having won 17 of 20 matches, drawing just 3, all on the road. Their goal difference is +50 and they have amassed 54 points to lead the division by 8 points from New Salamis, whom Rangers beat away from home earlier in the season by 0-3.

RANGERS...

Scoring 61 goals in 20 league matches means they are averaging 3.05 goals per outing whilst conceding only 11 which amounts to letting in 0.55 goals per match. They have conceded only 4 times away from their Windsors ground but have scored 30 goals on their travels which is a fine average of 3 goals per game.

Ardley have moved to 11th in the league table with 8 wins, 3 draws and 8 losses, their goals ratio is currently standing at +8 and their points total is 27.

UNITED...

They have scored an average of 1.74 goals per game and they have conceded an average of 1.19 goals per contest so far.

At home, United have won half of their 12 matches with a goals ratio of 23-15. They have only played 7 matches on the road thus far, with a goals ratio of 10-10…

Ardley United…

United’s most emphatic victory came at home against Holmer Green who were despatched 4-0, courtesy of goals by Liam Talboys, Leam Howards 2 and James Casbieri.

LIAM TALBOYS: LEADING GOALSCORER...

The reverse fixture v Risborough at Windsors in September was won 3-2 by Rangers where goals by Anaclet Odhiambo and Elliott Osborne-Ricketts were not enough for the guests, as Adam Morris, Josh Urquhart and Marcus Wyllie netted for the hosts.

ANACLET ODHIAMBO: MISSED THE TIE v TRING...

Ardley's recent form has improved after New Salamis had won 0-3 at the Nolan Oils Ground, for two more home matches have brought a pair of victories.

First there was a 5-3 win v Milton Keynes Irish, a game which saw Josh Tooke claim 4 goals and Declan Benjamin the other.

DECLAN BENJAMIN: SCORED v THE IRISH...

Last weekend saw United beat Leverstock Green 3-1, with a brace of goals by Tooke and one by Talboys.

'KEEPER FREDDIE LAPWORTH...

Leading scorers for Ardley are Talboys with 11 and Odhiambo with 9…

Risborough Rangers…

A couple of results stand out for Rangers prior to the most recent trio of encounters. First there was a 7-0 win v Broadfields United, the goals being scored by Asher Yearwood who claimed a hat-trick, Wyllie, Urquhart and a brace by replacement Sam Pekun.

JACK BROOKER: A FINE SEASON SO FAR FOR THE GOALIE...

Then a 0-5 win at Hadley was secured, courtesy of strikes by Liam Marum, who notched 3, Kieron Schmidt and Wyllie again.

MARCUS WYLLIE: A REGULAR SCORER...

Unsurprisingly, the last three matches have all been victories, firstly 4-1 v Oxhey Jets where Marcus Mealing grabbed 2, whilst Sean Coles and Schmidt registered the other goals.

Next came a 0-6 win at struggling Holmer Green (goal difference -43), where Mealing scored a hat-trick whilst Urquhart, Wyllie and Lewis Patrick netted once each.

MARCUS MEALING: ON THE SCORESHEET RECENTLY...

In their most recent match (last weekend’s fixture against Leighton Town was postponed) Rangers beat plucky Tring Athletic by a 78th minute strike from Alex Kedzierski at their Windsors stadium.

ALEX KEDZIERSKI: HIS LATE GOAL BEAT TRING RECENTLY...

MY LAST VISIT TO ARDLEY, FOR THE CRAWLEY GREEN GAME...

So, Rangers will be looking to extend their unbeaten run on Saturday whilst Ardley will be desperate to inflict a first league defeat upon their guests…
