Atherstone Town v Stapenhill...
The Mowdog’s Preview…
These two teams lie 1st and 2nd in the Midland League Division 1 and in the reverse fixture back in August, the Adders suffered their only league defeat of the season, losing 3-0 to the Swans at Maple Grove. MVP George Teeney grabbed a brace for Stapenhill in that contest, his second goal coming in the 85th minute, whilst Connor Richins’ 90th minute strike settled the issue.
The Adders have won 21 of their 23 games, drawing once against Ashby Ivanhoe on their own patch, with an 88th minute goal by Jamie Hood saving Town from defeat.Their goal difference is presently +48, having scored 63 goals in 23 matches, an average of 2.74 goals per game, whilst they have conceded just 15, an average of 0.65 per match. A total of 64 points have been achieved.
Stapenhill have won 16 of their 21 games, drawn 3 and lost 2 but they do have two matches in hand over the leaders. Their goals ratio is currently +41, having netted 65 times, an average of nearly 3.1 per outing, whilst they have conceded 24, an average of 1.14. They have amassed 51 points, which means that a win at Sheepy Road tomorrow and a pair of victories in their two games in hand could narrow the gap to just 4 points at the top of the division.
Brady Middleton rattled in a hat-trick for the Adders earlier in the season against Shawbury United, a game which saw six goals achieved for the only time so far and unsurprisingly, Middleton was voted as the match’s MVP.
