Out Came A Cub…
The food delivery arrived
By my scattering hand
And soon enough, eager but aware
Heads became visible
From inside clawed, gouged holes.
Adult badgers fed and thrived
Upon the opportunity there
And although my disguise as a tree was risible,
To those hungry creatures I remained invisible…
Then it happened, unexpectedly…
A rather curious fluffy cub surged
And shuffled from a sett and snuffled
At scraps of food with munches muffled.
Its slender frame bustled
And between adults muscled,
Its hunger by the provisions purged.
The tree watched enthralled. And smiled reflectively…

30th April 2022
The first cub I had seen in 2022 shuffled into the copse on 29th April…
A joyous experience…
