I Want Some More…
The parent looked frustrated and cross,
Having returned with gleanings from the shore
For her rather raucous hungry chicks,
Which continually cried for more…
The parent cocked an eye like a spy,
Watching for humans with pasties on the shore,
Or ice-cream cones, or packed lunches,
Yet the ravenous chicks screamed for more…
The parent glared then, in admonishment
At one chick’s antics, greedy for sure,
Gripping ridge tiles, beak gaping and harsh,
Squealing at its guardian, “I WANT SOME MORE…”

Three herring gull chicks and a parent were standing on a public toilet roof in Marazion…
The one chick squawked for food with a gaping, harsh beak and the adult’s expression was one that human parents are often seen displaying…
Being on a loo roof, perhaps the birds would excrete there and not on my car in Mousehole…
