Spilling Out On A Cool Wednesday, Following A Sweltering Sunday…
It had been hot. Stiflingly hot
On the Sunday within the harsh confines
Of the copse in early evening
And my discomfort was almost mirrored
By the visible reluctance of anxious
Badgers to emerge and feed.
It was rather surprisingly not
Sweltering on the Wednesday, with signs
Of high cloud and a distinct cooling
Discomfort within the copse, soon to be invaded
By six snuffling, piglet-like, ravenous
Badgers which sated their greed…

After perspiring wearing a polo shirt and shorts on the Sunday evening, it was a surprise to feel the chill on the following Wednesday.
Interestingly, the badgers were less inclined to appear on the Sunday, yet were very eager to show themselves in the cooler weather.
A coincidence, perhaps…
