FOXY DRIBBLE... (New poem about the dribbling skills of a fox in the garden...)

 Foxy Dribble…

A leisurely night-time snack, its eager snout working

The corners of a metallic ground feeder, led

To the nudging of an egg over the green rim

And onto the wintering lawn, damp and dank.

Morsels eaten, its healthy torso tarried, lurking

With alert eyes, sated but not yet fully fed,

For then it shifted towards the egg with elegance prim,

Regarding it respectfully and with hesitancy frank.

Unwilling to grip the egg with keen jaws whilst walking,

The fox nuzzled it forwards with gentle probing head,

Dribbling it until its resistance failed and upon a whim,

Took it into its mouth, trotted away and into the darkness sank…

It was so amusing to see the fox’s hesitancy over taking the egg away, as illustrated by the video clip shot by a night camera…

Neat dribbling skills too…
