No Mist Opportunity…
Barely a breeze ruffled dull green conifers but light rain
Fell constantly, persistently and indefatigably
As the dank evening darkened to a sodden silence.
A night mist oozed over soaked grass as the hours passed
Until a single fox, detecting sustenance and unable to refrain
From investigating, slouched forth, undeniably
Cautious despite its hunger, hesitant of its presence.
Yet it fed nervously in the misty shadows, curiously cast…
