MOUSEHOLE MOSAIC... (My new poem about an old image of Mousehole, Cornwall...)

 Mousehole Mosaic…

(An image of Mousehole, Cornwall, date unknown…)

Resembling a greyscale mosaic, roofs and granite

Dwellings seem to have land-slid from yonder hills

Like pallid mosaic tesserae, awaiting repositioning

Around the gaping quay, where luggers, silhouetted

Black with their spindly masts lie moored at low tide.

Like enfolding arms, the harbour walls rise to spite

The storms and wild, vicious, predatory spills

Of ocean, whilst the weed and boulder strewn beach lies waiting

For the next breach, the next cruel sea assault expected

Upon the huddled Mousehole, its resilience intensified…
