SEAL IN EXILE... (My latest poem about the seals at Horsey Gap, Norfolk...)

 Seal In Exile…

Alone, some distance from the throng, the seething mass

Of rolling, heaving, hooting seals of many patterns and hues,

One lay alongside the wooden panels of a groyne on Horsey beach,

Seemingly exiled.

Undaunted by the interest of humans, who would pass

Nearby, it turned to reveal the likely clues

As to why it was isolated, out of touch and reach,

Seemingly reviled.

Gashes, lesions, lacerations across its belly were revealed,

Its fate unfortunately, irrevocably sealed…

Rather sad to have seen this seal isolated, well away from the pod…
