January Dunes & Daffodil
Frost prickled on dunes
As the tide shrank away,
Having spilled its blackened weed
At the reach, then retreated…
Frost speckled the grass
As a daffodil shrugged awry,
Having willed its yellowed head
To bloom, too soon defeated…

Frost on Mawgan Porth beach and on a grassy slope below my room at The Merrymoor Inn.
