"Copsewood got the game underway and had a great opportunity in the 2nd minute to open the scoring. Their forward beat the defensive line and was one on one with Daniel Mallinson, but luckily for us he shot wide.


In the 10th minute Blake Kassar had a shot go wide as the game began to be very open. Copsewood opened the scoring in the 19th minute when an inch-perfect cross was finished in style with Daniel Mallinson having no chance: 1-0.


Nathan Stoute mishit his shot wide soon afterwards as we looked to get back into the game. In the 29th minute Chay Kalym was replaced by Neil Guest.


The Copsewood goalkeeper tipped over a long range shot from Liam Cawley to concede a corner with the game heading for half-time.


Half-time: 1-0.

We started the 2nd half with a bit more urgency, trying to force our way back into the game. On 60 minutes, Fabian Spence was replaced by Jordan Hayward and on 69 minutes Scott Lindley was replaced by Sam Wade.


In the 70th minute we equalised when Morgan Pulford won a header and Blake Kassar finished with a low shot: 1-1.


The game was then end to end with both goalkeepers needing to make important saves. In the 82nd minute good work from Blake Kassar saw his cross-come-shot almost turned in at the back post by Jordan Hayward.


Our last opportunity came in the 87th minute when good work from Lloyd Pulford found Neil Guest, whose shot went just wide.


Full-time: 1-1.

In summing up this game:


Copsewood started the game better and deserved their lead at half-time with a very good goal.


We got stronger as the game went on and finished it the stronger of the two sides and deserved something out of the encounter. Both sides had opportunities over the 90 minutes to win this game, so a draw, on reflection was the right result.


For me this draw ends our recent run of defeats, however a point is nothing to shout about. Yet a massive plus for me today is the performance the 14 players put in.
Partnerships and relationships are developing all over the pitch and the football we are trying to play is getting stronger because of this.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Copsewood for the hospitality offered to me and my Brinklow team. It was also nice to see and catch up with some friendly faces and I wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.
