'FEBRUARY CARNE BEACH': POEM ABOUT THE CORNISH BEACH...

February Carne Beach

Measured tide darkens the waiting dull sand,
Reaching over itself,
Eager to be seen
But fading blue-green
And misting in drizzle’s swirl,
Clouding the Roseland.

Pockmarked outcrops blacken the stretching flat sand,
Baulking at tide,
Steadfast between streams,
Yet hideous in dreams
And weathered by ocean’s lash:
Monstrous they stand…

Carne Beach, near Veryan. Lonely and damp day, misty. Lovely.
