CINDER LANE STORM...

Cinder Lane Storm

The darned heat
Clung shirts to damp flesh,
Yet the sun merely lurked behind screens
Of charcoal cloud,
Bulking, skulking its dull threat,
Accompanied by thunder’s doom:
Startling and stultifying its attrition aloud…

The filthy billows
Hung sheets of grim flush,
Yet one team simply revelled beneath streams
From blackened cloud,
Baulking, sulking its grim jet,
Drummed with thunder’s boom:
Fouling and flashing its lightning shroud…

Fairford Town v Binfield, July 2014 and a storm cascaded onto the stadium before kick-off, leaving a lovely, sultry, yet sunny afternoon during which to enjoy a non-league friendly game...
