THREE SAILBOATS: FROM KIRSTY ELSON'S ARTWORK...

Three Sailboats
(from Kirsty Elson’s 2020 calendar: the June image…)

Three hulls with sails a-bristling
And brushing a favourable breeze
Sit proud alongside a small lugger,
Where work and leisure mingle,
Before they return to similar quays
For mooring berths a-jostling;
And avid sunlight will daub its arresting
Hues upon the vessels’ liveries,
As they lean, redundant in mud and shingle…

Three hulls with sails a-glistening
Are hustling in variable breeze
And stir alongside each other,
Where Christmas lights for leisure mingle;
Three boats tethered in Mousehole’s quay
Upon invasive tides a-tossing;
And dark nights will glow with arresting
Hues upon the harbour’s reveries,
As eyes gleam and shivering senses tingle…
