Social Distancing Is The Quay…
(from the July image inside Kirsty Elson’s 2020 calendar…)
Socially distanced skiffs tarry, queued and dry,
Ropes, nets and buoys lie redundant
And mooring rings hang rusted from the quay wall;
Socially distanced gulls scavenge, then fly,
Ladder leans, incongruous, yet compliant
And chimneys are like fractures, racked by a squall;
Socially distanced portals stand discoloured but awry,
An inn-sign hangs adrift and flippant
And isolating folks hide, of the virus in thrall…

Covid-19 has influenced my poem about Kirsty Elson’s calendar image for July…
