Natural Detection…
There had been rain.
Thunder had rumbled
And lightning had flashed.
The copse though, was simply dank.
However, two badgers eventually,
Grudgingly and hesitatingly
Scrabbled from their setts upon slopes scratched
Like ploughed fields by eager claws.
There was real strain.
Two badgers fumbled
Then, alerted, dashed
For cover amongst foliage lank.
Heads raised, sniffing uncertainly,
Coyly, yet naturally
They paused downwind of me and ominously watched
With knowing expressions and clenched jaws…
